Abstract

Mohammad Hassan Elahi Tabatabai is the younger brother of Allameh Tabatabai and one of the students of Mirza Ali Ghazi. One of the few works left by him is a short treatise called "The Treatise on Errors" on the subject of perception and some epistemological issues. In this treatise, Elahi Tabatabai deals with some important issues of epistemology, among which the following can be mentioned: "Illusion of separation and existential independence of beings as an epistemological error", "Science is the only way to know and communicate with the outside world", " The soul and its causality in relation to information and its grounding to prove the unity of science, the world and the known", "the authority of the soul to create changes in the forms of entities", "the dependence of the human world on information" and "the agency of human judgment and will in the occurrence of events" ; The explanation of these issues in the "Treatise on Errors" may in some places give rise to the illusion that these theories do not have sufficient scientific mastery and strength. In this article, an attempt has been made to remove the said illusion while explaining his theories and their brief comparison with the epistemological foundations of transcendental wisdom as a progressive system of Islamic epistemology, and to clarify that Tabataba'i's divine theories can even be considered as a new explanation of Islamic epistemological issues in some positions.
